She was born on September 4, 1981 as Beyonce Giselle Knowles. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, the young Beyonce exhibited her gift for performing as a child, through joining and winning various talent shows. Many knew back then that she would be a great total performer. She easily catches the hearts of her audience with her natural and outstanding singing and dancing talent. It does not surprise anyone that she usually wins the local competitions she joined as a child.
As a teenager, she teamed up with Kelly Rowland (her cousin) and two classmates to form an all-female quartet. Matthew Knowles, her father, managed the group, which had several names before finally becoming Destiny’s Child in 1997. At the same year, the group took a coveted record deal with Columbia Records. In a very short span of time, Destiny’s Child emerged to be among the most popular and awarded R&B performers. The group had three studio albums.
In 2001, Beyonce started doing other projects aside from being identified as the lead of Destiny’s Child. Her first notable acting role was as the lead actress in ‘Carmen: A Hip Hopera,’ which was an MTV production. She then starred in several other flicks like ‘Austin Powers; Goldmember,’ ‘Pink Panther,’ and ‘Fighting Temptations,’ among others.
She released her first CD as a solo performer in 2003 through ‘Dangerously in Love.’ It lived up to expectations and instantly became a success in all aspects. Meanwhile, just as everybody thought Destiny’s Child was already disbanded, the group released its third album, ‘Destiny Fulfilled’ in 2004, It was of course another successful CD but it was the last studio album from the group, which finally disbanded in 2005.
In 2006, she starred in ‘Dreamgirls.’ Two years later, she finally married her longtime boyfriend, music icon and rapper Jay-Z. The same year (2008), ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ was released. It contained two of the biggest Beyonce songs yet, ‘If I Were a Boy’ and ‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It.’ Then, she starred in another movie, ‘Cadillac Records.’
Aside from songs, she then launched House of Dereon, her own clothing line that she owned with her mother. Her very own fragrance called ‘Heat’ followed in 2010. The same year, she was hired as an endorser for many brands like Tommy Hilfiger and L’Oreal.
She entered motherhood in 2012 when she gave birth to her first born, Blue Ivy Carter. Her daughter was born in January 2012. The couple (Beyonce and Jay-Z) has since intensified their privacy as a startup family. When Beyonce announced her pregnancy though an MTV event, everyone got ecstatic. Now, she is more admired not just for Beyonce songs but also for her dedication to her daughter and family without losing the steam of her career.
